Re: Sheldon Souray Trade Rumors
Recently, Oilers defenseman, Sheldon Souray, released a list of teams that he would waive his no-trade-clause for on Hockey Night in Canada. It's speculated that the list of teams include the Annaheim Mighty Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars, and the San Jose Sharks. The reason being that his children live with his ex-wife in Los Angeles.
Sheldon Souray's ex-wife, Angelica Bridges:
Though Souray's list hasn't gone public, recently there's speculation that his former team, the New Jersey Devils, is also on the list. However,
Spector had the following thoughts on a potential trade deal to New Jersey:
SPECTOR'S NOTE: Keep in mind that source "believes" Souray included the Devils, that's not an indication that he has. Regardless, it remains to be seen if Devils GM Lou Lamoriello would be keen to add Souray's $5.4 million per season cap hit, which I don't believe he would be.
There's no question that Souray hasn't had a great year since returning from his concussion injury. Earlier this season, he missed a number of games after Jarome Iginla took out an edge from his skates and he crashed into the boards.
Souray's getting older and has a massive salary cap hit, so it sounds likely that he'll be difficult to move prior to the March 3rd, NHL trade deadline let alone prior to the Olympic break.
He still has his 105+ mph slapshot which has broken plexiglass all over the league, but his defensive play and ability to find shooting lanes have both struggled this season.
