This past weekend in Big 12 play, Missouri continued to impress in staying undefeated, Texas found redemption after losing two straight, and Oklahoma won in dominating fashion. So what does Bevo think of all this? Let's find out.
1. (2) Oklahoma
The Sooners jumps to number one in Bevo's rankings for this first time this season after throttling Iowa State. I've doubted this team from the start, but they are winning me over. If they beat Mizzou in Columbia on Saturday, consider me officially won.
2. (5) Texas
The Horns have been on a roller coaster ride in the rankings this season, having been ranked anywhere from one to five so far. Beating an undefeated Nebraska team in Lincoln vaults them back up near the top. They should win again against a reeling Iowa State team on Saturday.
3. (3) Missouri
Mizzou is another team that is slowly winning me over after winning easily in College Station over the weekend. The defense has been outstanding to this point, and they will need great D this weekend as they host one of the biggest games in program history against BCS #1 Oklahoma.
4. (1) Nebraska
Nebraska drops to number four after a very disappointing loss at home to Texas. They showed to be a vulnerable team if Martinez is shut down and they get behind. Things don't get much easier for the Huskers this weekend as they travel to undefeated Oklahoma State.
5. (4) Oklahoma State
The Cowboys drop a spot despite winning impressively in Lubbock. Why? Questions remain about their defense. They have a chance to answer all questions as they face Nebraska on Saturday.
6. (6) Kansas State
The Wildcats rebounded in a big way after being blown out at home by Nebraska by blowing out arch-rival Kansas on the road. This sets up a very interesting game this weekend in Waco.
7. (8) Baylor
The Bears win yet another game, beating Colorado to run their record to 5-2 on the season. Robert Griffin continues to have a great season. They face a big test at home on Saturday against Kansas State.
8. (7) Texas Tech
The Red Raiders continue to have a disappointing season and got manhandled by Oklahoma State. Most disappointing was scoring only 17 points against a Pokes D that has given up a lot this season. This weekend they hit the road for a very winnable game at Colorado.
9. (9) Texas A&M
The Aggies got flat out whooped, pun intended, by Missouri on Saturday afternoon. A win should be in the cards this weekend against cellar-dweller Kansas.
10.(11) Colorado
It's never good to lose to Baylor at home, but that's exactly what Colorado did on Saturday despite having chances to win. Next up: Texas Tech at home.
11. (10) Iowa State
Iowa State were just destroyed by Oklahoma over the weekend. The season has taken a disappointing turn for the Cyclones after beating Texas Tech at home, and playing great early against undefeated Utah before the wheels fell off. Now they have to go on the road to Austin.
12. (12) Kansas
Kansas was blown out at home to Kansas State Thursday night. The Wildcats were favored, but there is no excuse to get pasted like that. Let's see if they can do any better this weekend against the Aggies.
