Bryz: Just Another Crazy Goalie?

This might be the hardest player profile for me to write. Yes, Bryz is a Coyote and has the potential to be a great goalie. But alas, I am just not a Bryz fan. Earlier this season I wrote this post on why I wasn't jumping on the Bryz bandwagon (I won't go into that here, you can click and read for yourself). Of course I am happy when Bryz plays well but I am always wondering, when will he fall apart?

Ah, but he dresses impeccable!

And I may have a right to be leery. After being named NHL's first star for the month of December, he has been pulled from two games in January. Does this surprise me? No. Is it all Bryz's fault? No but as the goalie he needs to keep his head in the game. He needs to keep thinking, "I am a big strong horse" and not let the goals get to him.

Ok, after the jump, it will all be happy, positive stuff!

Bryz is a fairly big goalie (6'3, 210) with tons of potential. Between Bryz and Nabby the Russians will be hard to beat between the pipes.

In 43 games this season Byz has 25W, 13L and 4OT. He is ranked second in shutouts with a grand total of 5. He has a .917 save percentage with 2.32 goals against average. He's also had one assist. Those numbers are much better then last season. In 62 games he had 26 W and 31L. He had a 2.98 GAA and a save percentage of .906.

But who is Bryz? The locker room clown? The loving family man? The out of his mind (but in a good way) goal? I would say he is all of those.

I'm sure many of you have seen the hilarious videos of Bryz on youtube (if not, go watch them after you finish this post!!!!). My favorites are the "I wanna be rich duck" mask explanation and "is only game, why you hafta be mad?" videos. They crack me up every time. There have been far too many print interviews with hilariousness to list.

Some people have met funny Bryz in person (not me, I always get serious Bryz for some reason). A close friend of mine and her brother met Bryz at an event. The brother asked Bryz to sign his tshirt and Bryz asked if he could sign his belly. Random, but funny.

He is also a loving father. He has two little blonde children who are absolutely adorable. They will wave at him through the entire second period. During breaks, he will skate over and give them a quick little wave. If you didn't know his kids were over there, you would never know what he was doing but his kids are so happy when he does this.

It's no secret Bryz loves food. We had GMDM put a hot dog clause in his last contract. We have now realized we need to add a few more things to that contract. Turns out Bryz and his family love to go to Chipotle or Cold Stone on family outings. We need to get GMDM to through in some kind of Chipotle/Cold Stone clause with the hot dog one. We are still working out the details...

Randoms:
During the off-season, he has earned a Russian degree. He likes to study Philosophy.
He has no i-pod or other such mp3 player.
His favorite jersey is the black one.
He likes any video game as long as it is an adventure game.
